Print, following drawing, has been closely linked with paper and with profound knowledge of its qualities. In its chronicles, however, it has also materialized separately from paper, as the intersection of numerous disciplines: the primordial hand prints on the walls of prehistoric cave, wax seals, ancient carvings and reliefs, copper ornaments imprinted on knightly coats of arms, coinage, the impressions of light etched and imprinted on a photosensitive chemical surface in photography and subsequently in film, the carving of sound into vinyl records, or the burning and duplication of images, sounds, and text via digital technologies. Continue Reading
